The Bombay High Court has greenlit the release of a Netflix docu-series titled "The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth," centered on the life of Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora. The court dismissed a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), finding no grounds prejudicial to the prosecution or trial, thereby allowing the series to premiere as scheduled.

Titled "The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth," the docu-series delves into the disappearance of Sheena Bora and was slated to premiere on February 23. Despite objections from the CBI, which sought a stay on the release until the trial's conclusion, the court concluded that the series did not undermine the judicial process.

The bench, comprising Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Manjusha Deshpande, emphasized that the series did not present any evidence contrary to the prosecution and remarked that public perception should not influence judicial proceedings. The court also noted the abundance of literature and media coverage surrounding the case and denied intervention from Peter Mukherjea, Indrani's former husband, stating that he could pursue separate legal recourse.
